An avid environmentalist since her childhood, Sarah has spent her life observing and enjoying nature in all its aspects – from the rhythm of the birds and the beauty of woodland fungi to the harvests from her seasonal garden.
Her calling to protect and preserve the natural world around her sparked her to learn about the impact of our modern food system on the environment, our bodies, and society overall.
While spending her 20+ year career as a Geotechnical Engineer designing earthworks, slopes, and infrastructure, reclamation and rainfall-runoff management were always at the forefront of her work. This journey led her to study and pursue permaculture, where everything clicked into place: earth care, people care, fair share – core values that resonate deeply with her.
Sarah completed her Permaculture Design Certificate in 2022, and has been moving her career towards permaculture ever since.
She is now bringing together her passion for the natural world, her skills and technical training in science and education, and her values for resilient community to the board of the EPG.
She is very excited to serve the Edmonton Permaculture Guild and all its members in the role of Vice President.
