Permaculture Food Forestry Course

Food forestry is an ancient approach to creating multi-tiered perennial food gardens that are patterned after natural forest eco-systems. With carefully selected and placed trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, self seeding annuals, mushrooms, and if desired, small livestock such as bees and poultry, these gardens become largely self-sustaining and highly productive, while providing excellent habitat for other beneficial species.
In this workshop you will explore the forest gardening model as a viable alternative for the Alberta climate in both urban and rural settings including the fundamental principles of forest garden design and the great range of possible plant species for our region.
