Shanthu Mano and Godo Stoyke of Carbon Busters will speak about their experiences taking a permaculture lens to home sustainability, green architecture and community design. They will also explore some case studies of natural building like cob and straw bale.
With a background in Business, Education and design, Shanthu has over 16 years of experience in managing and designing programs and projects that facilitate PassivHaus and Net Zero Energy design builds, integrated sustainable community developments and environmental education. Shanthu is passionate about sustainable communities and the promise they hold for our future. Shanthu has lived in an off-grid solar home for 22 years and her current research is in community engaged design, showcasing energy transition to renewables, integrating social justice and creating green jobs incubators.
The ultimate Carbon Buster, Godo is the president of Carbon Busters and is an award-winning environmental researcher and presenter, author of three books on solutions to climate change. He has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 78 million kilograms CO2e and utility costs by over $26.7 million for its North American and European clients alone. Godo specializes in zero carbon buildings, sustainable community infrastructure, integrated eco-industrial design, and has recently completed a Ph.D program in lifecycle assessment and zero carbon design.
